As mentioned previously, sound quality, number of pauses, clarity of the speakers (mumbling/ background chatter, children), whether the speaker is speaking coherently, level of punctuation required etc all contribute to the speed at which the typist can accurately transcribe.

Good microphone + coherent speech = faster, more accurate transcript for lower cost.
